Lavan – Salt

Effect on health : It cleanses sticky mucus and opens body channels for smooth flow, stimulates digestive fire. Enhances taste as salt brings taste to all food.

Foods that have Salty taste – Salt, sea salt, rock salt and mineral salt

Effect on Dosha – V- P+ K+

Too much salt – Increases Pitta and creates Water retention resulting into swelling, creates skin conditions like eczema, acidity, ulcers, burning, It is also reason for hair fall, early balding.

TIP – Ayurveda strongly recommends salt to be added in cooking. Sprinkling salt over the food is not recommended as it is uncooked salt which may create above mentioned imbalances.
